DR. SCOTT GERSCH

Dr. Scott Gersch is happy to have the opportunity to make people smile and give them the confidence he believes they deserve. He enjoys working with patients at every step of the process and really getting to know them.

Dr. Stanley Gersch and his team at Gersch Orthodontics strive to provide excellent patient care and the highest quality orthodontics in a personable and comfortable atmosphere. A past president of the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Gersch has been delivering outstanding orthodontic care to children and adults in the Union County area for more than 30 years.

BOARD CERTIFIED ORTHODONTISTS

Did you know that only a small percentage of orthodontists–approximately 1 in 3– are Board Certified? In order to become Board Certified by the American Board of Orthodontics (ABO), Drs. Gersch and Dr. Rossignol completed hundreds of additional hours of preparation and training, and were rigorously tested by a highly respected panel of examiners to demonstrate their orthodontic knowledge, clinical skills and judgment. The most fair, reliable and valid testing methodology is utilized to test clinical proficiency in an objective manner. The ABO certification process signifies a unique achievement—a significant step beyond the two to three years of advanced education required for a dentist to become a specialist in orthodontics. Achieving board certification is the last step in a long and intensive educational experience to ultimately provide excellent, unparalleled patient care.

Our Board Certified Orthodontists understand the complexity of growth and development as well as facial form. Their treatment plans include issues related to the jaw and bite, not just movement of teeth. There’s a reason Drs. Gersch and Dr. Rossignol spent additional years in highly competitive orthodontic programs – to learn and perfect their ability in the specialty. While many dentists may offer orthodontic treatment, they do not have the same extensive education required of an orthodontist. A Board Certified Orthodontist is committed to the highest level of patient care including a comprehensive treatment approach to ensure quality results. Board Certified Orthodontists must also renew their certification every 10 years to demonstrate their continuous commitment to lifelong learning and excellence.

Meet Dr. Scott Gersch

Scott D. Gersch, DMD

Dr. Scott is known for his enthusiasm and skill in treating children and adults, for which he has received numerous honors and awards. Dr. Scott, and Gersch Orthodontics, have repeatedly been named a Top Orthodontist in New Jersey Monthly Magazine as voted by their peers, and one of the state’s Favorite Kids’ Docs, in NJ Family Magazine, as chosen by parents and patients.

Dr. Scott Gersch is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, making him a Board Certified Orthodontist, an accolade achieved by less than a third of orthodontist in the nation. In addition, Dr. Gersch is one of only a few Invisalign Diamond Plus doctors in the entire state of NJ, proudly making Gersch Orthodontics one of the largest providers in the state and the country.

Dr. Scott Gersch joined his father at Gersch Orthodontics in August, 2005, with whom he continues to practice along with their partner, Dr. Ilona Rossignol.

Education

Dr. Scott is a native of Westfield, NJ and presently resides there with his family. He graduated from Westfield High School in 1995. He then received his bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Michigan in 1999. After college, Dr. Gersch was accepted to the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey where he earned his Doctorate of Medical Dentistry (DMD), and graduated in 2003.Dr. Gersch was on the Dean’s List, served as class president, and received honors, including the Award for Excellence, from the New Jersey Academy of Pediatric Dentistry. He continued his post-graduate studies at New York University College of Dentistry, where he completed his residency in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics in July 2005.

While at NYU, Dr. Gersch was the Chief Resident of his orthodontic program, a clinical instructor of Invisalign, radiology, and general dentistry. This was the foundation of his ongoing research into Patients’ Aesthetic Concerns and Quality of Life.

Continuing Education

Dr. Gersch’s commitment to research on improving orthodontic treatment for both children and adults has led him to publish several articles, win numerous research awards, and present his findings at national and international meetings. He lectures throughout his community, and often speaks at local schools and career day events. In addition, he serves as an orthodontic advisor for a local dental study club, and regularly attends continuing education course worldwide to stay connected with the latest techniques and scientific developments within the field.

He is an Invisalign Elite Diamond Plus Provider, making him in the Top 1% worldwide, and an attending member of the teaching staff at Overlook Medical Center. “Our goal is to treat for the right reasons and at the right time, in a great environment,” Dr. Scott Gersch says. “Straight teeth have the ability to give a person self-confidence, and it makes one look and feel better about themselves.”

Outside the office

Dr. Scott is an avid sports fan. He played lacrosse at Westfield High School, and the University of Michigan, has run the New York City Marathon, and enjoys skiing, playing softball, and golfing.

In his spare time, Dr. Scott enjoys spending time with his wife Jennifer, and their family. They enjoy watching Michigan football, as well as cheering on the New York Yankees and New Jersey Devils. Dr. Scott is also actively involved in the local community and many charitable organizations throughout the tri-state area.

Meet Dr. Ilona Polur Rossignol

Ilona Polur Rossignol, DMD, MPH, MSC

Dr. Rossignol loves being an orthodontist and creating beautiful smiles. She especially enjoys developing a close connection with her patients and their families while watching the transformation not only in her patients’ smiles, but also in their overall attitudes and confidence. Dr. Rossignol’s patients are her utmost priority, and she strives to make their treatment a fun and rewarding experience, so that they look forward to their appointments.

Dr. Rossignol is an Ivy-League Trained Orthodontist and a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. She is a Board-Certified Orthodontist, an honor achieved by less than a third of orthodontists in the nation. Dr. Rossignol, and Gersch Orthodontics, have repeatedly been named a Top Orthodontist in New Jersey Monthly Magazine as voted by their peers, and one of the state’s Favorite Kids’ Docs, in NJ Family Magazine, as chosen by parents and patients.

Dr. Rossignol joined Gersch Orthodontics in 2014 and has been a partner at the practice since 2019.

Education

Dr. Rossignol graduated magna cum laude from New York University with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. She then received a DMD/MPH dual degree(Doctor of Dental Medicine and Master of Public Health) from Harvard University, graduating with honors. Dr. Rossignol continued her post-doctoral training in the specialty of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics at Columbia University, where she served as Chief Resident and was awarded a Master of Science for her genetics research on TMJ degeneration.

Continuing Education

Dr. Rossignol is committed to her continued education and professional development. Throughout her career she has co-authored several publications on her research on TMJ degeneration and osteoarthritis. Dr. Rossignol has been the recipient of multiple honors and awards, including the American Association of Orthodontists Research and Clinical Achievement Awards, as well as the American Association of Oral Biology Research Award. In addition, Dr. Rossignol serves as a peer-reviewer for the European Journal of Orthodontics and the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics. She has served as Past President of the Columbia University Orthodontic Alumni Society and is a member of their Executive Board.

Outside the Office

Dr. Rossignol grew up in Brooklyn, NY and is fluent in Russian and attended Stuyvesant High School. She now lives in Westfield with her husband, Matt, and their daughter, Ella.

In her spare time, Dr. Rossignol loves spending time with her family, and enjoys art and theater! She loves exploring museums and traveling with her family. She also enjoys karaoke, trivia nights and solving NY Times crossword puzzles!Dr. Rossignol loves living in Westfield and being involved in the local community; and she and Drs. Gersch are always available for their patients.

Stanley Gersch, DMD, PA

A past president of the New Jersey Association of Orthodontists, Dr. Gersch has been delivering outstanding orthodontic care to children and adults in the Union County area for more than 30 years. He has been repeatedly named one of the Top Orthodontists in New Jersey Monthly and was featured in NJ Family Magazine as a Favorite Kids’ Doc in the state.

Education

Dr. Gersch received a Bachelor of Science in biology from the City College of New York. He earned his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. After completing a general practice residency at Montefiore Medical Center in New York, he specialized in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics at NYU College of Dentistry.

Continuing education and academics

Dr. Gersch is on the staff at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, as well as a clinical professor in the Post-Graduate Orthodontic Department at the New York University College of Dentistry. He continues to research the latest products and advancements in orthodontic care by attending numerous orthodontic educational programs each year.

Dr. Gersch was one of the first orthodontists in the United States to use Invisalign®. He has been nationally recognized for his Invisalign treatment and expertise, including the Top Case Award presented by Align Technology. Honored at the annual convention of the American Association of Orthodontist for achieving membership in Align Technology’s Century Club, he is part of an exclusive group that consists of the Top 100 Invisalign providers in North America.

Dr. Gersch is the Director of Invisalign training in the orthodontic department at NYU College of Dentistry, and he lectures at home and abroad. He has also consistently been recognized as an Invisalign Premier Provider ELITE, a distinction achieved by fewer than 1% of Invisalign-certified doctors.

Dr. Stanley Gersch and his wife Cindy reside in Westfield, NJ, where they have raised their two adult children, Scott and Shari. In 2005, Scott joined his dad as his partner at Gersch Orthodontics. Dr. Stanley is actively involved in the community. He is a member of many local charitable organizations, such as the Optimist Club, Jaycees, and Westfield College Men’s Club.
